RAIN IQ™, the Intelligent Rainwater System is the most advanced rainwater harvesting product on the market today. Using ‘Rain Sensing Technology’, RAIN IQ™ can capture up to 100% of your roof area and provide an increase in rainwater yield by up to 400% in some instances. The system automatically senses when your tank requires rainwater and directs rainwater from your roof to your rainwater tank through one downpipe. When your tank is full and does not require any more rainwater, RAIN IQ™ will direct the rainwater down your downpipes and flow into the drain. Your rainwater tank will fill up more often, therefore providing you with more rainwater to use on the gardens, outdoor areas, toilets, washing machine or any other use. Make every drop count with RAIN IQ™. |

RAIN IQ™ utilizes the current guttering system around your roof to capture and divert rainwater to flow into a singular tank. The roof of your home must have a guttering system that is continuous around most of the perimeter of the home. Each downpipe attached to the gutter is fitted with a RAIN IQ™ downpipe diverter. These downpipe diverters suit both round and rectangular downpipes, making it easy to fit any application. A separate tank inlet drop is installed into the gutter for the rain water tank which protrudes 10mm above the bottom of the gutter. A downpipe is connected between the drop and the rainwater tank.
Each RAIN IQ™ downpipe diverter is connected via a polymer air hose which is located either in the roof space or within the gutter itself. The RAIN IQ™ downpipe diverter has a flap that allows each downpipe to be blocked and allow the rainwater to fill within the gutters and flow towards the rainwater tank drop. The flap is activated by compressed air that flows within the polymer tube. The RAIN IQ™ control box which can be located externally or internally consists of a small compressor that charges the system. The contol unit is run by a 12V transformer, which plugs into a 240V external power point.
The RAIN IQ™ system uses “Rain Sensing Technology” which activates the system when it rains. The sensor can be located on top of the water tank or attached to the gutter. A float switch is also connected into the outlet side of the tank and connected to the control unit. When rainwater is no longer required for the tank or it stops raining, RAIN IQ™ allows each downpipe diverter to open allowing rainwater to flow down each downpipe, therefore converting back to a normal stormwater drainage system.

No Rain
- No rain fall, tank is either empty or part full, RAIN IQ™ downpipe diverters are in the open position.
- Downpipes are ready for a rainfall event
First Flush
- Rain begins to fall onto the roof.
- RAIN IQ™ senses that rain is falling and activates First Flush Sequence, Rain water falls into gutter and flows down the downpipe, washing roof pollutants, debris, sediment and leaves down the drain and out to the street.
- First initial rainfall by-passes the tank inlet
- The "first flush sequence" is timed which can be adjusted from 1 to 10 minutes by using the LED touch pad to suit site and seasonal conditions.
Rain Capture
- The "first flush sequence" time has expired.
- RAIN IQ™ activates the system and charges the polymer hose with air.
- Air is sent to each RAIN IQ™ downpipe diverter allowing the flap to close.
- Rain water within the gutters start to fill and flow over the high points and flow down the tank drop and into the tank. The system is now capturing up to 100% of the total roof area.

| Fail Safe
If a heavy or intensive rainfall event is experienced, rainwater will rise above the overflow ports on the downpipe diverter within the gutter and flow down the downpipe while maintaining a constant flow to the rainwater tank. The dual overflow by-pass ports on each downpipe diverter have a greater surface area than a normal downpipe drop, therefore providing a fail-safe system and allowing any excess rainwater to flow to drain. If in an event that power is lost with a rain event, the system will shut down and allow all downpipe diverters to open and allow rainwater to flow down each downpipe. Rain Stops
When the rainwater tank becomes full, RAIN IQ™ senses that the tank has now become full and does not require anymore rain water. The RAIN IQ™ system releases the air from each downpipe diverter, allowing the internal flap to open. Rain water flows back along the gutter and down each downpipe and into the drain. The build up of water and draining action provides additional flushing of the guttering system.
Tank In Use While Raining If the rainwater within the tank is being used while it is raining, RAIN IQ activates the system and charges the polymer hose with air. Each downpipe diverter internal flap becomes closed, allowing rainwater to start rising inside the gutter. Rain water within the gutters start to fill and flow over the high points and flow down the tank drop and into the tank.

Traditional ‘Dry System’ installations usually only capture around 20% of your roof area. In most cases only one or two downpipes feed the tank, limiting your rainwater catchment. It relies on large rainfall events to fill the tank. Dry system installations are preferred as they do not hold rainwater and dry out after a rainfall event. |
|
Traditional ‘Wet System’ installations mostly only capture a portion of your roof area. Wet Systems store rainwater within the downpipes and underground pipes after rainfall and eventually becomes stagnant if not removed frequently. This can lead to stagnant water entering your tank, create odours and become a haven for mosquito breeding. |

How much more rainwater can I collect? |

Using the table below, compare what you are currently capturing from your roof to see how much more rainwater can be captured from your roof with the use of RAIN IQ™, Intelligent Rainwater System. Click onto the online calculator link below to see how much mains water you can save with RAIN IQ.
Using RAIN IQ to capture the entire roof area together with a small rainwater tank can provide better water saving outcomes compared to a larger capacity tank capturing a small portion of the roof area.
